About the Preacher

Alan Jones was born in Indianapolis on July 20, 1959.  He was blessed with a godly home and he was fortunate to know God and the Scriptures from childhood.  His father Willard was an elder in the Southport church of Christ where he grew to maturity and was provided with opportunities to cultivate his interest and abilities in preaching the gospel.  He was blessed by the teaching of many professors at Florida College where he earned a Certificate of Achievement in Biblical studies in 1980.

Alan began devoting himself to the preaching of the gospel immediately after college and from 1980 to 2016 he preached for congregations in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Arkansas.  Along the way, God opened doors for Alan to teach the gospel to men in Indiana prisons over a period of 20 years, devoting about 6 of these years totally to this ministry of the Word.  He also spent about 5 years in door to door and home Bible study evangelism in the city of Anderson, Indiana.

In August of 2013, Alan was stricken with atypical facial pain.  He persevered to preach until May of 2016 when the pain forced him to take disability from his pulpit work.  However, still desiring to preach, especially to share the vast amount of sermons and writings that he had prepared over the years, Alan desired to have a “virtual pulpit”, and thus this website was born.

Alan married Jill Byers on August 17, 1985.  God has blessed them with 7 children:  Luke, Jeremy, Aimee, Eric, Heidi, Holly, and Caleb, 5 children-in-law: Sarah, Jacklynn, B.J., Natanya, and Austin, and 9 grandsons: Ryker, Silas, Liam, Elijah, Carson, Levi, Everett, Joah and Oliver.  Alan and Jill reside in Converse, Indiana and are members of the Woodland Hills church of Christ in Marion, Indiana where Alan serves as one of the elders.
